Kinaxia Logistics have announced that they have acquired AKW Group Limited (AKW), including AKW Global Logistics Limited and AKW Global Warehousing based at Trafford Park, Manchester.
AKW is the tenth acquisition of Kinaxia Logistics. Other companies within Kinaxia Logistics include Bay Freight Limited, William Kirk Limited, NC Cammack & Sons Limited, Foulger Transport Limited, Lambert Brothers Haulage Limited, Panic Transport (Contracts) Limited, AJ Maiden & Son Limited, MarkThompson Transport Ltd and BC Transport Limited.
AKW Global Logistics was formed by the merger of AK Worthington Limited and Global Logistics UK Limited in 2014. Operating since 1984 and 1997 respectively, the two core companies combined to make a group that has grown successfully over recent years through providing high levels of customer focus and reliable cost-effective tailored services. The company currently employs around 380 staff and has a fleet of 86 vehicles.
AKW is another long-established and highly respected company to join the Kinaxia Group. It is focused on providing a range of logistics services including transport, warehousing, contract packing, and international operations. It is also a founder member of the Partnerlink network and operates as an active member of Palletline providing regional hub services. With its location at Trafford Park and through its Birmingham depot, AKW will further strengthen Kinaxia's established position in the North West and Midlands.
AKW shares the same vision and aspirations as the existing Kinaxia companies and, as with all previous Kinaxia acquisitions, all management and staff will be retained. Tony Worthington, Chairman, and Founder will retire and Paul Welsh will join Kinaxia in a central role helping develop and optimise the Kinaxia Operations. Julian Richards and Rebecca Davies will continue in their current director roles in AKW Group Limited and AKW Global Warehousing Limited. The existing management shareholders in AKW will also become shareholders in Kinaxia.
Chairman, Tony Worthington commented:
'We are delighted to be joining Kinaxia Logistics as this will take AKW Global to the next level and establish a secure future for the business and its employees and customers. We look forward to working with the other Kinaxia subsidiaries to provide additional services and accessing new opportunities for growth.'
Kinaxia Logistics Director, Peter Fields commented:
'Kinaxia has established itself by acquiring successful, well run, high service-level, family-owned companies, and AKW is a perfect fit with our strategy of both deepening and broadening our position in the UK logistics market. AKW's decision to become part of Kinaxia provides them the best way of continuing their growth whilst securing a future for their business and employees. We are delighted to welcome the AKW management team into the group and am confident that their extensive skills, knowledge, and experience will help us extend our reach and further enhance customer service levels.
We will continue making further investments in the next 18 months in order to build a leading service-focused haulage and warehousing group covering the UK.'
