Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum

Mark Thompson Transport are recruiting a Finance Business Partner to join their team at their site in Warrington. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the preparation and production of the business management accounts within the Primary Distribution sector.

About the job:

  • Financial Business Partner to the Managing Director. Provide advice and analysis on operational efficiencies, potential projects and new contracts to ensure they are cost effective and within budget;
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the Managing Director and senior management team to ensure the business is developing to its full potential;
  • Develop, prepare and produce management accounts, forecasts and weekly reports for each area of the business, which are accurate and fit for purpose including development of KPIs for regular reporting;
  • Lead, develop and motivate direct reports to ensure they reach their full potential and subsequently contribute to the overall performance of the business and deliver a world class service;
  • Continually review, and implement improved financial control procedures, systems and processes to ensure an effective and efficient service is being delivered;
  • Provide timely and accurate information / reports to enable the Senior Management Team and departments to make informed strategic and operational decisions, highlighting any areas of concern;
  • Be main point of contact in the annual statutory audit to certify that all processes, procedures and legislative requirements are being adhered to; 
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts to meet each business’s and group financial and strategic targets;
  • Lead on the completion of all year-end procedures in accordance with legislative requirements and group processes;
  • Manage the cash management and credit control to ensure it is accurate and effective


Your knowledge and experience:

  • Qualified accountant
  • Transport knowledge preferable
  • Both working and technical knowledge of accountancy
  • Preferably Experience Sage 200
  • Preparing and producing management accounts
  • Supporting a management team with financial advice and strategic planning
  • Preparing and complying for statutory audits
  • Supporting the formulation of budgets and forecasts
  • Preparation and analysis of key KPI’s
