Bay Freight are recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant to join their team at their site in Stalybridge.

Salary: £25,000 - £26,000 per annum

Bay Freight are recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant to join their team at their site in Stalybridge. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting in the preparation and production of the business management accounts, providing proactive, financial information whilst driving best practice to comply with all company procedures, documented policies and financial legislation.

About the job:

  • Support the site Finance lead with the accounting process, including but not limited to reconciliations, creation and posting of journals and variance analysis.
  • Prepare weekly finance reports which are accurate and meet all the necessary requirements.
  • Responsible for producing the VAT return following correct procedures in a timely manner;
  • Reconcile the HSBC finance account and the sales / purchase ledgers to ensure they maintain accurate;
  • Responsible for the generation of daily cashflow updates for the management team;
  • Produce business KPIs to aid and support in the understanding of the performance of the business on both a weekly and month basis.
  • Assist in the annual statutory audit to certify that all processes, procedures and legislative requirements are being adhered to;
  • Assist with formulating budgets and forecasts to meet both business and group financial and strategic targets;
  • Answer queries from customers/suppliers/employees providing accurate information to ensure excellent customer service is maintained and ensure supplier payments are processed;
  • Input information into the relevant systems, for which you have responsibility, check and reconcile data where appropriate and identify and resolve any discrepancies to ensure 100% accuracy;
  • Assist in the development of processes and procedures to improve the efficiency of financial activities within the department;

Your knowledge and experience:

  • Working knowledge of basic accountancy principles
  • Knowledge of Sage 200 and payroll systems is preferable
  • Applicable accounting qualification such as Part qualified ACCA/CIMA or AAT
  • Continuing to study is preferable
  • Payroll experience and working in an office environment
  • Cascade Payroll system experience is desirable
  • Accounting software and Microsoft office
  • Preparing and producing management accounts
  • Supporting preparation for statutory audits
  • Supporting the formulation of budgets and forecasts is preferable
  • Strong IT skills with an awareness of new technologies, including Microsoft Excel to an intermediate level
